Introduction to Higashiyama-ku, the location of Motonago
Higashiyama-ku in Kyoto city is an area where Kyoto’s famous temples and shrines can be found in close proximity to each other. Located between the gentle mountain range of Higashiyama and the pure flow of Kamogawa River, this elongated area is full of the abundant charm of Kyoto. From the north, you will find Chion-in Temple, Maruyama Park, Yasaka Jinja Shrine, Gion town, Kodaiji Temple, Hokanji Temple, Kenninji Temple, Rokuhara-mitsuji Temple, Kiyomizu-dera Temple, Myohoin Temple, Sanjusangendo Temple, Sennyuji Temple, Tofukuji Temple, and so on.
